Sacramento, Calif. – The Texas State softball team opened the 2013 Capital Classic with a 1-0 win over host Sacramento State. The victory gives Texas State its second win in a row and third on the road.

In a game that saw very few hits from both sides, it was a long ball by senior Haley Lemons that went over the left field wall in the fourth inning to give Texas State the gamewinning run. The homer was the first of the season for Lemons, and the third of her career.

Texas State finished with two hits (Lemons, and Brooke Baker), while the Hornets tallied three hits.

Rayn House (2-8) pitched a complete game to earn her second victory of the season this week. House fanned seven Hornets in the win.

The Bobcats return to action on Saturday, March 16 with games against Kansas at 11 a.m. CT and Fresno State at 1 p.m. CT.
