Box Score

Austin, Texas – Texas State fell to No. 10/11 Texas on the road this afternoon at McCombs Field. The Longhorns grabbed a 7-0 victory over the Bobcats to capture their second win over Texas State in the three-game weekend series. Saturday's game was cancelled due to inclement weather in the top of the second inning.

An RBI single up the middle by Mandy Ogle gave Texas a 1-0 edge in the first inning. The Longhorns continued to play small ball, as Brejae Washington had an RBI single in the third inning. Washington would later score on a sacrifice fly to improve Texas' lead to 3-0.

Taylor Hoagland added an RBI single in the fourth, and the Longhorns tacked on three more runs in the sixth inning to hold on for the seven-run victory.

Texas State had the bases loaded with one out in the second, but the Longhorns made a play at the plate, followed by a pop up by the Bobcats to end the inning without a run. Brooke Baker and Kellie Baker each tallied one hit to lead the Bobcat offense.

Ashley Wright (3-7) pitched 2.1 innings in the loss.

Texas State returns to Bobcat Softball Stadium on Wednesday, March 13 as it hosts Troy at 2 p.m.
