San Marcos, Texas – The Texas State women's tennis team looks to win its third match of the 2013 spring season when the Bobcats open their Western Athletic Conference schedule against I-35 Maroon-Orange rival UTSA on Friday, Feb. 15, at the Bobcat Tennis Complex. The match begins with doubles matches starting at noon.
Texas State enters the match with a 2-1 record after dropping a 6-1 decision against Houston last Sunday. The Bobcats opened the season with a 7-0 victory over UT Pan American on Feb. 2 and a 6-1 triumph against St. Edward's on Feb. 3.
Melissa Hadad and
Mariana Perez are 2-0 as Texas State's No. 2 doubles tandem in dual matches and own a 6-2 overall doubles record.
Jessica Kahts and
Gabriela Rojas have a 2-1 record in No. 1 dual matches and are 3-1 overall.
Rachel Baldree and
Monica Pieratt also own a 2-1 mark in dual matches and are 5-2 overall in 2012-13.
Kahts, Hadad and Pieratt have 2-1 singles records in dual matches as Texas State's No. 1, No. 2 and No. 4 players, respectively.
Bérénice Van den Bergh owns a 2-0 record in No. 6 singles matches, while Rojas is 1-0 in No. 5 matches. Perez also has a 1-1 record in No. 5 matches and a 1-0 mark in a No. 6 match this spring.
Following the UTSA match, Texas State plays host to former Southland Conference rival Northwestern State on Saturday, Feb. 16, at 11:00 a.m.
