Soccer Falls To Louisiana On The Road, 5-2

LAFAYETTE, La. – The Texas State soccer team fell on Friday evening against Louisiana by a score of 5-2 in Lafayette, La. Texas State falls to 5-7-2 overall and 2-2-1 in conference play.

Louisiana's Yazmin Montoya did all of the work for the Ragin' Cajuns for the first portion of the game, scoring all four of Louisiana's goals before the Bobcats got on the board.

After a turnover by Louisiana, Texas State's Landry Lowe took control of the ball in the 66th minute just outside of the box and fired a shot that found the back of the net. Her goal was the first of the season for the sophomore and cut Louisiana's lead to three.

Not quite 10 minutes later, Louisiana's Shelby Isley added to the Ragin' Cajun total, making it a 5-1 game with 16 minutes remaining.

In the 85th minute, freshman Clarissa Leon scored her second goal of the season as she received a pass from Gabbi Cottee up the middle and broke away from a Louisiana defender for a one-on-one against the goalie. That goal would prove to be the final goal of the contest for both teams.

Texas State outshot Louisiana 15-13 including a 9-5 differential in the second period. Natalie Gardini and Caitlyn Rinehart split time in the net for the Bobcats.

Texas State will continue its Louisiana road trip on Sunday as the Bobcats travel to Monroe, La. Kick-off against ULM is scheduled for 1 p.m.
