Texas State Women’s Tennis Team Defeats McNeese State For Sixth Straight Victory

The Texas State women's team won its sixth straight match when the Bobcats shut out McNeese State 7-0 at the Nancy Hank Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon.
 
The Bobcats opened the match winning two of the three doubles matches to capture the team point. Texas State won the No. 1 doubles match as Jessica Kahts and Melissa Hadad teamed up to defeat Tea Tvrtkovic and Anastasia Surkova by a score of 8-1.
                                                                                                                              
Gabriela Rojas and Bérénice Van den Bergh suffered a hard-fought 8-6 setback in the No. 2 match against Lara Pujol and Marcella Castaldi.  The Bobcats captured the team point when Mariana Perez and Rachel Baldree won the No. 3 match over Diana Piciu and Andrea Nenu by a score of 8-3.
 
Texas State won all six singles matches, including winning the top five matches in straight sets. In the No. 1 match, Kahts defeated Tvrtkovic by a score of 6-1, 6-2. Hadad defeated Pujol by a score of 6-1, 6-3 in the No. 2 match, while Baldree added a 6-2, 6-1 win over Surkova in the No. 3 match.
 
In the No. 4 match, Rojas posted a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Piciu, and Francesca Bernes defeated Marcella Castaldi, 7-5, 6-1 in the No. 5 match.
 
The No. 6 singles match went to three sets, but Perez prevailed with a 6-3, 4-6, 10-5 victory over Nenu.
 
With the victory, Texas State improves to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in dual matches this spring. The Bobcats return home for their next two matches against Northwestern State on Saturday, March 10 and against Central Arkansas on Sunday, March 11. Both matches begin at 10:00 a.m. at the Bobcat Tennis Center.
