San Marcos, Texas – The Texas State women's tennis team will travel to Corpus Christi and San Antonio for a pair of Southland Conference matches against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. and UTSA on Sunday at noon, March 31 and April 1.
Texas State (10-3, 5-0 SLC) will look to stay undefeated in the Southland Conference and atop the SLC standings against a Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (9-2, 3-1 SLC) team that has won its last four contests. Saturday's match will be held at the Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center.
The Bobcats enter the contest after playing four-matches in five days that included a 6-1 win against New Mexico State and a 4-3 victory versus UT Arlington, its first win since 1991 against UTA. The Bobcats dropped matches against Houston 4-3 and No. 28-ranked Rice 6-1.
Texas State's season has been led by impressive doubles play. The Bobcats have been able to capture the team doubles-point in 11-of-13 dual matches this season. The No. 1 team of Jessica Kahts and Melissa Hadad are 10-2 while Rachel Baldree and Mariana Perez have a 10-1 mark as the No. 3 tandem.
Following Saturday's match, Texas State will play UTSA (7-7, 2-2 SLC) at the UTSA Tennis Center. UTSA will face UTA on Saturday, one day prior to the Bobcats arrival. The Roadrunners are looking to rebound from dropping their last three decisions, each by a score of 5-2.
Sunday's match will pair Texas State against UTSA for the second time this season after the Bobcats opened their fall schedule at the Roadrunner's Fall Tournament on Sept. 23-25, 2011. The Bobcats captured six singles victories over the Roadrunners in the tournament.
Following this weekend's matches, Texas State returns home and plays host to Nicholls on Friday, April 6 and Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday, April 7 at Bobcat Tennis Complex. Friday's match begins at 9:00 a.m. and Saturday's match begins at noon.
