Notes

Versus Opponents This Week

Texas State will make its second-ever trip to Denver on Thursday when the team tries to even its all-time record against the Pioneers. The Bobcats fell in their first match against Denver in 2006 as part of the Denver Invitational. Texas State will go to New Mexico State on Saturday to play the Aggies for the third time in as many years. The Bobcats defeated New Mexico State in Arizona in 2010 before falling in 2011 when the Aggies came to San Marcos. On Monday, Texas State will play San Jose State for the second time this season after defeating the Spartans at Strahan Coliseum.

 

Coming Around

After being named to the Preseason All-WAC Team, junior Amari Deardorff has shown why of late with 55 kills over her last four matches. Last week, the right side hitter averaged four kills per set and hit over .400 for the week while receiving WAC Player of the Week honorable mention honors.

 

Winning The First

All nine of the team's victories have come after winning the opening set. The Bobcats are 9-1 this season when winning the first set.

 

Win 750

Head coach Karen Chisum won her 750th career match two Saturday's ago when the Bobcats swept Seattle U on the road. Chisum is one of just seven coaches in the country that currently has at least 750 victories.

 

Last Week Recap

The Bobcats won both of their matches last week, downing UT Arlington in four sets and sweeping Louisiana Tech. The Bobcats evened their overall record at 9-9 while moving up to fifth place in the WAC standings with a 4-3 mark. The team has now won three consecutive matches.

 

Dig Pink

The Bobcats will host their annual Dig Pink match on October 25 against Seattle U. Money will be raised in support of the Central Texas Medical Center's Breast Cancer Unit.
