Volleyball Sweeps Louisiana on River State Day

SAN MARCOS, Texas — Texas State volleyball bounced back in statement fashion to get a 3-0 sweep of Louisiana to improve to 1-1 in Sun Belt play.

Samantha Wunsch had her second-consecutive double-double with 14 kills and 13 digs tonight, alongside 14 kills from Nina Moorer to lead the Bobcats.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Texas State volleyball made a statement in the first set, coming from behind to win it 31-29. While hitting .362 with a 21-4-47 attack line, Texas State was able to find its way to a set win. Leading the way was Samantha Wunsch who had eight kills in the first set alone, on just 13 swings. That, alongside 14 assists from Anna Blaine and six digs from Britt Finley helped Texas State keep the set close throughout. It was back-to-back kills from Wunsch that won the Bobcats set 1.

The Bobcats forced the Ragin' Cajuns into eight attack errors in set two as they held Louisiana to a negative attack percentage during the match. That, while tallying 17 kills on their own helped Texas State take the lead early on through the set and not relinquish it. Texas State won set two with a 25-19 scoreline.

The Bobcats had a second set with an attack line above .300 to end the match, swinging 14-2-36 for a .333 attack line in the third set. This propelled them to a 25-18 set win, including Adison Ozuna with four kills of her own. Ozuna came off the bench in the match for six kills. That, alongside a match best 4.0 team blocks helped Texas State secure the sweep.

After today's three set win over Louisiana, Texas State is 6-7 on the season and 1-1 in Sun Belt play.
