TROY, Alabama — Texas State volleyball fought to rally back from down 2-0 and succeeded in forcing a set five but fell 15-11 in set five for its first road loss of Sun Belt action this season.

Nina Moorer led the Bobcats with 16 kills while Samantha Wunsch tallied her 6^th double-double of the season with 14 kills and 13 digs. That, alongside a career-best 19 digs for Maggie Walsh helped the Bobcats push in the five-set affair. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Trojan attack gave the home side an advantage in set one when the team swung .448 (15-2-29) while limiting Texas State to just a 10-5-24 attack line. That, along with the Trojans out-blocking Texas State 4.0 to 1.0 gave the Trojans a 25-17 win in set one.

Texas State was more competitive in set two, but when the Trojans still hit .400 with 17 kills to the Bobcats 11, it was the Trojans five service errors and Texas State's four aces that helped Texas State stay in the set. Texas State found themselves with their backs against the wall after Troy won set two 25-14.

The Bobcats made a statement in set three, though, with a 25-14 set win. The Bobcats swung .552 with a 20-4-29 attack line, led by five kills from Moorer and Brooke Bentke. Troy tallied just nine kills and had two more service errors while digging just three balls in set three. The Bobcats bested them in all categories to keep the match alive and force a set four. Texas State never gave up the lead in set three.

Set four was more back and forth, with seven tied scores and five lead changes despite Texas State starting on a 7-3 run. The Trojans battled back after then, and it went down to the very end of the set to decide the 25-23 scoreline. Ultimately a kill from Moorer and a block from Bailey Hanner and Wunsch won the set for the Bobcats and leveled the match. Moorer led with five kills again in set four, while Wunsch had four.

Set five was back and forth throughout, with six tied scores and a lead change throughout. Texas State fell into attack woes in the late stages of the set, and Troy was able to edge out the 15-11 win to take the match.

After today's five set loss at Troy, Texas State is 7-8 on the season and 2-2 in Sun Belt play.
