San Jose State also began WAC play 1-1. It fell to Denver 4-0 on Friday, before beating New Mexico State 1-0 on Sunday. The Spartans are led by Mikaella Meibock who has scored four goals.
Utah State split both games last weekend to open conference play. The Aggies had scoreless draws with both New Mexico State and Denver. It marked the first time that the team had been shutout in back-to-back games.
Friday's game begins a stretch of three of the next four games coming on the road for the Bobcats. Texas State will have just one game next week, against Louisiana Tech, on Friday, Oct. 12.
Pregame Quotes
Texas State head coach Kat Conner
On adjustments made from first WAC weekend
“The first part is that we come back for both games. I thought we didn't come back for the Sunday game. We looked a little sluggish, so we have to correct that. That deals with off the field stuff, such as watching their nutrition and recovery.”
On San Jose State and Utah State
“I've watched both teams play on film. They're both playing a 4-3-3, that's what we've seen all year, so it shouldn't be anything different than what we've done. San Jose State is a little more possession oriented and Utah State is more direct. We definitely are going to have our work cut out for us on both sides. They're organized well in the back and each goalkeeper likes to come off the line. It's going to be difficult for us to keep possession and get in behind them, because they're well organized.”
