Box Score

San Marcos, Texas – The Texas State soccer team dropped its first game to TCU in 12 years, falling 3-1 to the Horned Frogs in front of a season-high 560 fans, Friday night at the Bobcat Soccer Complex in San Marcos.

Kelsey Bernard got the Bobcats on the board first, scoring in the 14th minute after seeing a loose ball come out to her feet, which she put in the middle of the net just under the crossbar, for her first goal of the season.

Bernard's shot was one of seven for the Bobcats in the first 45 minutes, which saw them outshoot the Horned Frogs 7-2.

One of TCU's two shots in the first half, found the back of the net when Elise Kensinger converted a header off a corner kick from Natalie Werner.

TCU broke the 1-1 tie in the 52nd minute when Becca Rowland sent a cross into the box which Kaylie Garcia sent into the back left corner of the net for the 2-1 lead. The Frogs' final goal came with 22 minutes left, after Kristen Halverson got a breakaway and beat Bobcat senior goalkeeper Lauren Frazier.

Texas State will look to end its losing ways on Sunday at 1 p.m., at home against UTEP. The game will be broadcast on 89.9 FM KTSW in San Marcos.
