San Marcos, Texas – The Texas State women's tennis team returns to Southland Conference action this weekend with a pair of matches against Northwestern State and UT Arlington on Friday and Saturday, March 25 and 26. The Bobcats will play Northwestern State in a neutral site makeup of a rained out match at the UNT Tennis Complex in Denton, Texas on Friday at 3:00 p.m.
Following its match against Northwestern State, Texas State will travel to UT Arlington for match that begins at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday morning.
The Bobcats enters the weekend a 6-4 overall record after posting a 6-1 victory at Cal State Fullerton on March 16. Texas State looks to win its second straight SLC match against the Lady Demons after posting a 5-2 victory over McNeese State on March 13.
The Bobcats are led by freshman Jessica Kahts, who has a 7-3 record as a No. 1 singles player. Gabriela Rojas has a 6-4 mark as the No. 3 player, while Mariana Perez (No. 5) and Bérénice Van Den Berg (No. 6) are 5-3. Rojas and Van Den Bergh own the team's best doubles record with a 6-2 mark.
Northwestern State enters the weekend with an 8-3 overall record and a 3-1 SLC mark. Martina Rubesova and Andrea Nedorostova share team-best 10-1 singles marks for the Lady Demons, and own a 9-2 slate at No. 2 doubles to set the pace.
UT Arlington enters the weekend ranked No. 59 nationally with a 9-4 overall record and a 4-0 mark against SLC teams. The Mavericks are led by Maria Martinez, who boasts a 12-1 record as a No. 2 singles player. Martinez and Nikola Matovicova have a 9-2 mark in doubles play, including a 4-0 record in No. 2 doubles matches.
