San Marcos, Texas –
For the second consecutive day, the Texas State baseball team was down to its final out trailing the Houston Cougars. And for the second consecutive day, that all changed with one swing.

Bobcat catcher Andrew Stumph hit the first pitch he saw from Houston closer Matt Creel over the left-field fence for a three-run, walk-off home run to lift Texas State to an 11-10 victory on Sunday in the series finale against Houston at Bobcat Ballpark. After trailing for most of the game, the Bobcats came back to win in walk-off fashion as the team swept the season series with Houston for the second year in a row.

Texas State hit four total home runs on Sunday, including a pair from right fielder Cody Gambill for his first two of the season. Jeff McVaney also hit a home run, his second of the season, while Stumph's game winner was his first long ball of 2011.

After trailing 10-6 entering the bottom of the eighth, Gambill led off the inning with his second homer of the day to bring the team back within three, 10-7. Stumph then pinch hit for starting catcher Andrew Lacombe and doubled down the left field line before an RBI single from Isaac Nuti made the score 10-8. The Bobcats continued to threaten as Tyler Sibley singled to put two runners on, but Houston center fielder Landon Appling put a stop to the Texas State inning as he robbed Kyle Kubitza of extra bases with a diving catch in left-center field to keep the Cougars in front by two.

After Joseph Dvorsky and Dylan Adamek combined to keep Houston scoreless in the top of the ninth, the Bobcats came up and were assisted by an error from the Cougar third baseman to put McVaney on first with one out. Gambill followed with a walk to bring the winning run to the plate, and two batters later, Stumph hit a moon shot to left field to improve the team's record to 12-3 this season.

Adamek (2-0) was credited with the victory for the second day in a row, while Creel (3-2) was charged with the loss as Houston fell to 7-9 overall.

Gambill (2-for-3) was one of five Bobcats to finish the day with two hits. The junior scored three runs and also knocked in three while reaching base four times in the game. Stumph was 2-for-2 with three RBIs and two runs scored, while McVaney was 2-for-5 with three runs scored and two RBIs. Sibley extended his hitting streak to 13 games as his finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored and his team-leading seventh stolen base of the season.

M.P. Cokinos and Creel led the Cougar offense with three hits apiece.

Houston jumped on the board first as the Cougars pushed across one run in the top of the first to grab an early lead. But the Bobcats answered with a one in their half of the frame after Sibley turned a leadoff walk into a run without the help of a hit to make the score 1-1 after one full inning.

Houston retook the lead in the second inning with one more run before adding four in the top of the fourth to take a 6-1 advantage.

Gambill helped cut into the deficit in the bottom of the fourth with a two-run homer to right field, making the score 6-3 Cougars.

Houston scored twice in the top of the fifth to open up a five-run advantage, but an error by the Houston shortstop in the bottom half of the inning extended the frame and allowed the Bobcats to score three runs and draw within two, 8-6.

The Cougars scored twice more in the top of the eighth inning before the Bobcats' late-inning dramatics helped the team to win its third consecutive game.

Up next for the Bobcats is a matchup against Texas in Austin on Tuesday, March 15. The game is scheduled to begin at 6:05 p.m.
