Soccer Heads To Waco For First Round Of NCAA Tournament Saturday

Soccer Postseason Guide

San Marcos, Texas –
The Texas State soccer team will travel to Waco to take on Baylor in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, Saturday at 6:00 p.m, in a rematch of a non conference game from earlier this season. It is the Bobcats' first trip to the NCAA Tournament since 2008.

Earlier this season the Bobcats fell to the Bears in Waco, 2-0 on Sept. 9. The game was a turning point for Texas State, which has not allowed multiple goals in a game since the meeting with Baylor, a streak spanning 14 games. In that stretch Texas State is 12-1-1 and has posted seven shutouts.

On Sunday, Texas State earned its fifth NCAA Tournament berth in program history after defeating Stephen F. Austin, 1-0, for the Southland Conference Championship and automatic berth. Lauren Frazier earned Tournament MVP honors for her work not only in stopping eight shots on Sunday, but also for stopping three of four shots in the penalty kick shootout against Sam Houston State in the semifinals.

The winner of the game on Saturday will face the winner of the North Carolina-William & Mary game also played this weekend, in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
