Soccer Hosts UTSA Sunday in I-35 Rivalry

Game Notes

San Marcos, Texas -
The Texas State soccer team wraps up its current six-game homestand on Sunday when it renews the I-35 rivalry with UTSA. The Roadrunners entered the season as the reigning Southland Conference Champions after winning the conference tournament last season.

Last weekend Texas State started conference play 1-1. The Bobcats defeated Sam Houston State 1-0 on Friday on a goal by Felicia Leask. On Sunday the game against Stephen F. Austin appeared headed for overtime until the Ladyjacks scored a goal with 23 seconds remaining to win 1-0.

UTSA also split the opening weekend of conference games. The Roadrunners fell to Stephen F. Austin 3-0 on Friday, before rebounding to beat Sam Houston State, 2-0 on Sunday.

Sunday's game will be the sixth meeting all time between the two schools, since the rivalry began in 2006. UTSA owns a slight edge in the all-time series with a 2-1-2 record.
