Texas State men's golfer Alastair Jones made golfing history over the weekend in his home country of Wales by becoming the first player to win both the Welsh Amateur Championship and the Welsh Open Youth title.
Jones was crowned the Amateur Champion Saturday afternoon after showcasing a great effort against top-seeded Oliver Farr. The Bobcat junior entered the event as the No. 7 seed and won by a score of 3&1 at the Tenby Golf Club.
Earlier this summer, Jones also claimed his second consecutive Youth Championship after firing a (+3) 283 at Tenby and leading the competition by six strokes. Jones was then chosen to lead Wales in the four-cornered home international series.
Jones will return to Texas State this fall where he will begin his junior season competing for the Bobcats.
