Nyssa Peele Named to Capital One Bank/Southland Conference Women's Tennis All-Academic Team

FRISCO, Texas - - The Southland Conference recently announced that Texas State senior Nyssa Peele has been selected as an Capital One Bank/Southland Conference All-Academic First Team member. Peele was named to the team after being named an All-Southland Conference First-Team player earlier this season. She completed her senior season with a 16-1 record and ended the year with a 15-match winning streak. Peele, who maintained a 3.75 GPA in art history during the past two years at Texas State has been a member of the Dean's List during three of her four semesters at the school.

Peele also was a Texas State and Oak Farms Dairy Academic award winner in 2008 and 2009, and earned a "Cream of the Crop" award after maintaining a 4.0 semester average in 2008. In addition, she was named to the Southland Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll in 2009.

Peele helped lead Texas State to a school record of 13 dual match victories in 2009-10, and a third-place finish in the Southland Conference standings with an 8-3 mark. The Bobcats also advanced to the semifinals of the SLC Women's Tennis Tournament for the first time in school history.

A native of Austin, Peele transferred to Texas State in 2008 after earning All-Atlantic 10 honors as a sophomore at Rhode Island.
