Three Bobcats Earn All-Sun Belt Conference Honors

Ireland Simme, Kiana Graham and Sofia Fortuno earned All-SBC honors.

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Three Texas State women's tennis players – Ireland Simme, Kiana Graham and Sofia Fortuno – earned All-Sun Belt Conference honors, the conference announced on Wednesday.

Ireland Simme earned Women's Tennis Newcomer of the Year, Kiana Graham was named to the Singles First Team All-Conference, and the duo of Sofia Fortuno and Simme earned Doubles Second Team All-Conference honors.

This marked the first time since 2019 that a Bobcat women's tennis player has earned All-Sun Belt Conference honors and is also the first time in program history three Bobcats have earned SBC honors in the same season.

Ireland Simme | Women's Tennis Newcomer of the Year
Simme transferred to Texas State for her junior season and had an amazing year in both singles and doubles play.

She became the first Texas State women's tennis player in recorded history to record 10+ wins and zero losses, after ending the season with a perfect 14-0 record on courts five and six. She recorded seven straight-set victories and was ahead or tied in all her matches but two that went unfinished this season.

In doubles play, she also racked up double-digit wins, ending the year with a 13-6 overall record and a 6-2 record in doubles play (courts 1 and 2). In conference play for doubles, she and her partner – Sofia Fortuno – went 5-1 and won their first five SBC matches to begin the season.

She is the first Texas State women's tennis player to win SBC Women's Tennis Newcomer of the Year and is the first player since Jessica Kahts in 2014 to earn multiple All-SBC honors in the same season.

Kiana Graham | Singles First Team All-Conference
Graham led the Bobcats on court one this season in singles and recorded a 10-4 overall record and a 4-2 SBC record in singles.

Nine of her 10 wins in singles play were straight-set victories and she earned seven consecutive singles wins in straight sets during the season. Each time she won in singles play, the Bobcats won the match overall.

Her play in singles helped the Bobcats earn their most wins in a season in program history (16), most SBC wins in a season (7), most home wins in a season since 2012 (9), and highest seed in the SBC Tournament (3).

She is the first Bobcat since Jessica Kahts in 2014 to earn Singles First Team All-Conference.

Sofia Fortuno & Ireland Simme | Doubles Second Team All-Conference
Fortuno and Simme were put together as a doubles team on court 1 during SBC play and finished the year with an overall and SBC record of 5-1.

The pair won their first five matches in SBC play, including their match against a nationally ranked ODU team, and outscored their opponents 34-15 throughout their six matches on court 1.

They are the third pair in TXST history and the first since 2022 to earn Doubles Second Team All-Conference.
