AUSTIN, Texas - Texas State junior sprinter Kevin Aje raced to a time of 10.59 seconds to qualify for the quarterfinals of the 100-meter dash at the NCAA Division I 2010 Outdoor Track & Field Championships -West Preliminary today at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin.
Aje placed third in his heat to qualify for the quarterfinals which will take place at 6:00 p.m. The top 12 will advance to Saturday's finals. He is one of three Southland sprinters that will move on to tomorrow's race.
Competing in the discus throw tomorrow will be senior thrower Katy Hanie. She earned the bronze medal at the SLC Championships with a distance of 45.10 meters (147-11). Hanie has a season-best throw of 49.16m (161-03). The discus is slated for noon on Friday.
Participating in the high jump on Saturday, May 29 will be freshman Lisa Bingham and senior Valerie Hancock. Bingham won the event at the Southland Conference Outdoor Championships with a height of 1.72 meters (5-07.75). Hancock placed fourth at conference, but has a season-best height of 1.75m (5-08.50). The high jump will be held on Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
