Women's Soccer Wraps Up Regular Season On Road

Game Notes

San Marcos, Texas –
The Texas State women's soccer team will wrap up its regular season schedule with a two-game roadtrip this weekend against Stephen F. Austin and Sam Houston State. The Bobcats enter the weekend tied for fourth in the SLC with Stephen F. Austin at 4-2-1 in conference play.

Last weekend the team went 1-1-0 when it finished the home portion of the regular season. Erica Michaud and Britney Curry each had a goal and an assist in the team's 4-0 win over Nicholls on Friday. In the game, Natalie Gardini also picked up her second straight shutout.

On Sunday it was a defensive struggle against Southeastern Louisiana. The Lions scored a goal in the sixth minute to give them a 1-0 lead. Despite outshooting Southeastern 17-9 for the game, and 10-2 in the second half, it was not enough as the Bobcats lost 1-0.

This week poses its own set of problems. Stephen F. Austin has four players that have scored at least five goals, and Kylie Louw and Jordan King are each tied for fifth in the SLC with seven goals apiece. Sam Houston State has a high powered goal scorer of its own, with Mallory Williams who is third in the conference with 24 points (10 G, 4 A). The Bearkats come in a hot team, winners of seven of their last nine matches.

“Our backs are up against the wall,” head coach Kat Conner said. “We have to go out and take two games.”

Kickoff for Friday's match is set for 7 p.m., with Sunday's match starting at 1 p.m. Next week the Bobcats return home to host the Southland Conference Tournament from Nov. 4-7 at the Bobcat Soccer Complex.
