Holeman Secures 50th Win at TXST with Victory over Louisiana Tech

RUSTON, La. - Head coach Steve Holeman earned his 50th win as a Bobcat in No. 15 Texas State's (7-1-1) Sunday night victory over Louisiana Tech (2-5-1) by a score of 3-1, following an hour of weather delay.

The Bobcats won the possession game through the first frame and got on the board first when Marivic Lek-Miro won a foot race to the ball beating the Bulldog defender just outside the 18-yard box, then cashed in her second goal in as many matches finding the top left of the net.

Texas State held the pressure throughout the half and took 10 shots to the Bulldogs' three, four of which were on target.

Following the intermission, the Bulldogs generated a response and found the back of the net in the 50th minute to knot the contest at one apiece.

After a near miss from roughly 35 yards out, Victoria Meza found the back of the net for her eighth goal of the season, heading home a perfectly placed cross from Constance Agyemang, who recorded her fourth assist of the season to tie for the team lead.

Nina Norshie tallied her third goal of the campaign in the 70th minute when she tapped in a rebound off the Bulldog keeper deposited by Jenny Ngankem to extend the Bobcat lead to 3-1.

By the numbers, Texas State outshot Louisiana Tech 23-5 with 11 on frame, while Brooklyn Escobar made her second start between the posts and pulled in four saves.

HEAD COACH STEVE HOLEMAN
"I thought we did a better job of keeping the ball and creating opportunities. Defensively we were a bit more organized, we learned from Thursday's match and held solid. We gave up one goal off the free kick, but that was well struck and followed up well. Other than that, I thought we were pretty solid."
