SAN MARCOS, Texas - In its first-ever meeting with Santa Clara (4-2-4), the 18th-ranked Bobcats (7-1-2) battled to a scoreless draw on Sunday night at the Bobcat Soccer Complex.
An even match through the first half was proven as the Bobcats and Broncos took a scoreless half into intermission. The numbers reflected the back-and-forth playing field, as both teams took five shots with four on frame, while the keepers each made four saves apiece.
The programs took the battle through 90 minutes and ended in a scoreless draw. The Broncos outshot the Bobcats 12-5, but
Caitlyn Draper's second clean sheet of the season reflected a season-high eight saves, while grabbing her 150th career save in the contest.
HEAD COACH STEVE HOLEMAN
"We had some really good possessions going into halftime, and they probably led in the second half a bit more. That's what good teams do. We tried to tweak our system a little bit and we solved a bit of their dangerous chances. They have one of the greatest coaches in the sport over there who has two national championships. It's tough to break down an organized defense, and that's about as organized as it gets."
