15th-Ranked Bobcats Prepare for Louisiana Tech

RUSTON, La. - No. 15 Texas State (6-0-1) prepares to take on Louisiana Tech (2-4-1) to cap a six-day trip in the Pelican State on Sunday night at 7:00 p.m. (CT).

The match will be broadcast live on ESPN+ and  fans can follow the live stats action on Statbroadcast.


SCOUTING THE BOBCATS
  • The Bobcats tied its best start in program history, last set in 2022, before Louisiana issued the 15th-ranked Bobcats its first loss of the 2026 campaign. The six-game win streak was snapped, but also marked the third-longest in program history.
  • Texas State entered the national rankings for the first time in program history in the week two coaches poll at No. 21, following historic wins over Texas A&M and then-No. 6 Baylor. Back-to-back shutouts over East Texas A&M and Texas Southern led to week three's No. 17 ranking, before Texas State topped Rice, 4-3, by way of a final minute game-winner from Victoria Meza after four second half goals led the team to tie its best start in program history (6-0-1).
  • Victoria Meza was announced as the third Bobcat this season to bring home Pac-12 Player of the Week honors as the offensive recipient. Also named TopDrawerSoccer's National Player of the Week, Meza leads the country in game-winning goals when her third of the season versus Rice also marked her conference-best 7th goal of the season (6th nationally). The three assists in the comeback victory are a single-game career high for the senior. Helen Alormenu and Jenny Ngankem swept the Pac-12 offensive and defensive honors on Aug. 25.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
  • Louisiana Tech (2-4-1) enters the match with the Bobcats following a week break and comes off a 5-2 loss at Northwestern State.
  • Other losses in the campaign include Southeastern Louisiana, Lamar and McNeese, but own wins over Houston Chrisitian and Stephen F. Austin.
  • The entirety of Louisiana Tech's non-conference slate has been Southland Conference members, as the Bulldogs close the noncon portion of 2026 with the Bobcats before its inaugural Sun Belt season opens in conference play.
  • Senior Madison Penson leads the Bulldog scoring with three goals across seven games

ALL-TIME SERIES HISTORY
  • Texas State and Louisiana Tech have met six times on the pitch, with the Bulldogs holding a 3-2-1 advantage in the all-time series. The two programs first met in 2005, with Texas State earning a 2-0 victory in Nacogdoches, the lone neutral site match in their history.
  • The Bobcats have split their last two meetings with the Bulldogs, playing to a 1-1 tie in 2017 before falling 2-1 in double overtime in the most recent matchup on Aug. 17, 2018.
  • Texas State holds a 1-1-1 record in three meetings at home against Louisiana Tech, while the Bobcats are 0-2 in two road contests.
  • The 2018 meeting in Ruston was the most recent matchup between the two programs, with Louisiana Tech claiming a 2-1 double-overtime victory.
