In-State Schools Clash as Texas State Hosts Texas A&M

SAN MARCOS, Texas - Texas State (1-0-1) prepares to host Texas A&M (1-1-0) for the first-ever visit the Aggies make to Bobcat Soccer Complex slated for Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. (CT).

SCOUTING THE BOBCATS
  • Texas State increased its home opener win streak to six consecutive years with the 4-1 victory over UTRGV on Sunday night at the Bobcat Soccer Complex. Victoria Meza recorded her first-career brace in the win.
  • The victory was the first for Texas State as a member of the Pac-12 Conference after a 2-2 draw at UTSA opened the season. First-career goals from Nina Norshie (at UTSA) and Grace El-Deir (versus UTRGV) serves as a highlight storyline in the early going.
  • A team effort proven in the assists column (7) versus UTRGV. It was the most single-match assists since the Bobcats posted a program record 11 assists in last year's season opener versus Our Lady of the Lake (8/14/25).

SCOUTING THE AGGIES
  • The Aggies opened the season with two similar opponents on the Bobcats 2026 schedule, with a 2-1 victory at Rice and dropped its second contest at Baylor, also 2-1.
  • The season-opening victory at Rice was led by Trinity Buchanan who recorded her second-career brace to fuel the Aggie victory and head coach Bobby Shuttleworth's first career win.
  • Shuttleworth was hired as just the second head coach in Texas A&M soccer program history following Coach G Guerrieri's retirement after 33 seasons at the helm, and just the fifth NCAA D1 WSOC coach to surpass 500 wins. He comes from a four-year stint at Florida State as assistant coach and associate head coach, winning national championships in 2023 and 2025.
  • Between the posts, Makenna August has made 12 saves. She leads the SEC in the category through the first two contests.

ALL-TIME VS. TEXAS A&M
  • Texas A&M leads the all-time series 4-0-1 dating back to the first meeting between the programs in 2001. Of the five matches played in history, the Aggies have never visited Bobcat Soccer Complex and will be doing so for the first time on Wednesday night.
  • The 2025 result in College Station saw a 1-1 draw and marked the first time Texas State notched a positive result versus an SEC school. Helen Alormenu put the 'Cats on the board in the 28th minute, before the Aggies tied it up with just nine minutes to play in the match to finish in a tie.
