SAN MARCOS, Texas – Sunday's series finale ended on a down note for Texas State (27-21, 10-14 Sun Belt) as it fell 7-4 to South Alabama (30-18, 14-10 Sun Belt) from Irvine-Rasmussen Ballpark.

The Bobcats jumped out to an early lead when
Rashawn Galloway led off the bottom of the first with a 408-foot blast to left center for his ninth home run of the season. Three straight walks would load the bases and
Justin Vossos drove in two of the runners with a single to left center to increase the advantage to 3-0.

Jackson Cotton started the fourth by drawing a walk. He moved into scoring position on a ground out and came around to score when
Manny Salas barreled a pitch back up the middle for a single to increase the lead to four runs.

The Jaguars would get on the scoreboard with a run in the top of the fifth. It would be the first of seven straight unanswered runs that included a three-run homer in the sixth and a two-run double in the eighth.

Of TXST's six hits, three came off the bat of Vossos. Salas also finished the afternoon with a multi-hit performance with two base knocks.

Sam Hall (1-1) surrendered the go-ahead runs in his inning of work to take the loss. Jacob Haley (1-0) struck out five in 3.2 scoreless innings to pick up the win.

Five strikeouts were recorded over the first three innings of the game in a standout performance from
Ryan Markwardt. Recording two strikeouts in 2.2 innings was
Jesus Tovar while
Keller Eberly and
Cameron O'Banan had one punch out apiece in their innings of work.

Next up for the Bobcats is a Tuesday night meeting at home against Baylor with first pitch set for 6 p.m.
