SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State Softball and head coach
Ricci Woodard are excited to announce Nicole Neuerburg Finn as a member of the 2026 Hall of Honor Class.
Neuerburg Finn, a member of Bobcat Softball from 2000-2004, established herself as one of the top pitchers in program history after a career that placed her second in career wins (107) and strikeouts (1,019) while also setting program records for career ERA (1.31), complete games (114), and shutouts (45).
In addition, Neuerburg Finn also ranks second in total appearances and innings pitched. Last but certainly not least, she holds the single season win record with 34 wins.
"Nicole is one of the main reasons this program is where it is today," said Woodard. "She led Texas State to another definition of success, winning championships and post season play became the standard set during her tenure here."
The Lake Jackson, Texas, native also earned a program first for Texas State Softball with the program's first-ever perfect game on April 14, 2001, against UTSA. On the national stage, she became just the 22nd pitcher in NCAA history to record 1,000 career strikeouts and the 32nd pitcher to reach 100 career wins.
In her first season in 2001, Neuerburg Finn quickly made an impact and earned Southland Conference Second Team All-Conference honors and All-Tournament team honors after a season that saw her win 23 games--that included a 3-2 win over then-No.20 Oregon--and strike out a total of 183 hitters. Later that spring, the pitcher also led the Bobcats to the NCAA Regional Finals and to a No. 16 national ranking.
In a season that culminated in a 2002 Southland Conference Regular Season championship, Neuerburg Finn also earned 2002 Southland Conference Pitcher of the Year honors and was named First Team All-Conference after going 25-8 and posting a 1.13 ERA. The right-hander also earned national recognition for the first time in her career, picking up NFCA All-Region honors. That same season, the Lake Jackson native also struck out 258 hitters, which currently ranks her eighth all-time amongst Bobcat Softball pitchers.
2003 and 2004 saw similar success for Neuerburg Finn as she earned First Team All-Conference honors to finish her time in San Marcos with three consecutive First Team All-Conference honors. The 2003 season also culminated in an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament and a spot in the regional finals before falling to Texas. Neuerburg Finn tallied three victories in the NCAA Regional in Austin and was named to the All-Tournament Team. Also helping Texas State continue their national success, she led the Bobcats to a final national ranking at 26.
The right-hander graduated from Texas State in 2004 with a degree in mass communication and became the first player in program history to play professionally after spending the 2006 season with the Texas Thunder.
Neuerburg Finn now lives in California, spending her time coaching and mentoring pitchers. Off the field, she shares a love of sports with her two sons, Gus and Hank.
