SAN MARCOS, Texas – Senior
Chase Mora hit the 37th home run of his career to become the new all-time leader in Texas State history on Friday, surpassing Bobcat legend Paul Goldschmidt. Mora helped TXST (21-10, 8-4 Sun Belt) split a twin bill to claim the series over Georgia Southern (11-21, 4-8 Sun Belt).

Texas State won the first game of the day 15-5 in eight innings while the Eagles salvaged the series with a 9-8 victory in the night cap.

Game 1
The Bobcats finished with 15 hits in the opening contest with 11 of them going for extra bases.
Rashawn Galloway extended his hitting streak to 23 games with a 3-for-5 performance that saw him fall a single short of the cycle while driving in two runs.
Jackson Cotton finished 3-for-4 with four runs, two doubles and a solo home run.

Jaquae Stewart drove in four runs on two hits. Both
Ethan Farris and
Dawson Park finished with three RBI and scored twice.

Cameron O'Banan (1-0) earned the win after throwing 1.2 innings of relief with one strikeout. Craig Kalkbrenner (1-2) allowed four runs on three hits in 3.0 innings to take the loss.

Starting on the mound was
Sam Hall, who struck out four in 3.1 innings but surrendered three runs on four hits and walks.
Titan Targac threw two shutout frames with three punch outs and Bennet Fryman tossed a scoreless inning in his TXST pitching debut.

Texas State took the lead just two batters into the game when Galloway hit a two-run homer to left field. Stewart would hit an RBI single back up the middle after fouling off seven straight pitches to increase the lead to 3-0 at the end of the first.

GS got on the scoreboard with a run in the second. The lead went back to three in the bottom of the frame when
Justin Vossos hit the first pitch he saw over the left field wall for his first homer of the season.

The Eagles would hit a two-run home run in the second and the fifth to take a 5-4 advantage.

In the bottom of the fifth, Cotton led off with a double to center field. The freshman would later score on a single through the right side off the bat of
Manny Salas to tie the game. A three-run long ball off the bat of Stewart put TXST back in front for good.

The Bobcats would add five more runs in the sixth on a three-run homer by Park and a two-run round tripper courtesy of Farris.

Cotton led off the eighth with a home run to center field. Galloway followed with a triple and Park and Salas were both walked to load the bases. The game ended via the run-rule when Farris hit a sacrifice fly to right field to bring home pinch runner
Zachary Gingrich.

Game 2
Texas State recorded seven more extra-base hits in the night cap with three doubles, three homers and a triple. Vossos when 3-for-4 and fell a home run shy of hitting for the cycle. Farris was the only other batter to record a multi-hit contest with a double and round tripper. He also drove in two runs and scored twice.

Mora drove in a team-high three runs on his record-breaking home run. Also leaving the yard was Park and both Cotton and Salas drove in a run.

Brady Pendley (4-3) worked four innings out of the bullpen to pick up the win and Jax Lewis needed just one pitch to record the final out of the game to earn his first save of the year. Park (0-1) surrendered two runs without recording an out in his pitching debut to take the loss.

Jesus Tovar started but went only three innings as he gave up six runs on six hits.
Alizaeh Gutierrez tossed 2.1 innings in relief and
Keller Eberly struck out three in two scoreless frames. Both
Dylan Kerbow and
Alex Yearwood recorded two outs apiece.

GS jumped out to a six-run advantage after the first three innings with two coming in the second and four more in the third.

The Bobcats got on the scoreboard when Park crushed the first pitch to him in the fourth over the left centerfield wall. Two batters later, Farris doubled down the left field line and
Clayton Namken drew a walk. Mora came to the plate and hit a 1-0 offering to left center for a three-run homer that set the program's new career record.

Cotton started the fifth by doubling down the third base line. He would move up 90 feet on a groundout to the first baseman and scored when Salas grounded out to the second base to cut the deficit to a run.

The Eagles got back on the scoreboard in the sixth thanks to a sac fly.

In the bottom of the seventh, Vossos led off by crushing a 3-2 pitch to left center. The ball hit off the wall and bounced away to allow him to end up on third with a triple. Cotton brought him home on a ground out to the first baseman to make it a 7-6 deficit.

Stewart was hit by the first pitch to him in the eighth with one gone. Farris came to the plate and fouled off eight pitches before sending a 1-2 offering 405 feet to left field for a go-ahead home run.

The lead was short lived as the visitors scored on a wild pitch and a single to retake the lead in the ninth.

Vossos led off the bottom of the inning with a double and advanced to third on a groundout. Austin Mungia pinch hit with two outs and drew a four-pitch walk. Lewis came in and induced a pop up that ended the game.

Next up for the Bobcats is two midweek home games beginning with Texas A&M on Tuesday and followed by a meeting with Stephen F. Austin on Wednesday. Both games will see first pitch at 6 p.m.
