Final Road Trip Begins at South Alabama

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Entering the home stretch of the regular season, the Texas State men's basketball team (17-11, 9-6 Sun Belt) begins its final road trip of the season on Thursday at South Alabama (19-8, 9-5 Sun Belt). Tipoff for the game is scheduled for 7 p.m. from the Mitchell Center.

About Texas State
The Bobcats enter the game on a six-game winning after defeating ULM by 11 points on Thursday. It was the team's 15th home win of the season to tie the program's season record and is tied for the second most in the nation. Texas State enters the contest one game out of first place in the Sun Belt Standings.

DJ Hall enters the game leading the team with a 15.0 point per game mark after scoring a career-high 27 points on Saturday. He also leads the team with 7.4 rebounds per game and is shooting a conference best 55.4% from the field. The freshman has added 66 assists and 40 steals, as well.

The only other Bobcat with a double-digit scoring average is Mark Drone at 13.9 ppg. His 24 made three-pointers are the second most on the team behind Franck Emmou's 27. Drone is second on the team with 72 assists and has recorded 27 steals.

Kaden Gumbs comes in putting up 9.1 ppg and paces the team with 3.2 assists per game. His 55 steals are tied for the fifth most in a season ever by a Bobcat.

About South Alabama
The Jaguars are coming off an 84-80 loss at Marshall on Monday. The setback snapped a three-game winning streak. At home, South Alabama is 8-2 with a 4-1 mark against Sun Belt opponents.

Chaze Harris, the conference's reigning player of the week, leads the squad with 18.2 ppg, a 54.3% shooting mark, 121 made free throws, 127 assists and 40 steals. Adam Olsen is putting up 16.2 ppg behind 81 made three-pointers. Also with a double-digit scoring average is Jayden Cooper at 10.9 ppg

Series History
Texas State leads the all-time series 13-7 after winning the first meeting this season 67-65 back on Dec. 20 in Strahan Arena after trailing by 15 points in the second half. When playing in Mobile, the Bobcats are 3-6 all-time having seen South Alabama win the last two contests. Last time TXST won on the road in the series w a 64-58 contest on Jan. 7, 2023.
