Clint Shields is in his second season as the play-by-play voice for Texas State football and men's basketball. Shields took over this role after serving as an analyst for Texas State football games in 2019 and as a play-by-play voice for Texas State women’s basketball games in 2019 and 2020.

Shields joined Texas State Sports Properties with almost 25 years of experience announcing high school football, basketball and baseball games throughout Texas. Most recently, he was the play-by-play announcer for nine years in Dripping Springs with KDRP/Sun Radio.

His radio career began at KKAM in Lubbock after earning his bachelor’s degree in telecommunications at Texas Tech in 1996. He handled program and production duties for the station, worked at Texas Tech sporting events, hosted sports talk shows and provided play-by-play throughout the Texas panhandle.

He later served as news and sports director at KKYN in Plainview, Texas, and KHLB in Marble Falls. Shields worked as an analyst and play-by-play voice in the radio booth for the Lubbock Crickets, an independent minor league baseball team in the Texas-Louisiana League.

Shields later spent 10 years as a writer/editor for the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts and is currently a real estate appraiser/broker in the Texas Hill Country.

He and his wife, Kimberly, have two sons, Braden and Reid, and enjoy traveling as a family and spending time at their family ranch near Junction.
