DESTIN, Florida – The Texas State men's golf team completed 18 holes of action at the Sandestin Collegiate Classic on Monday, with a pair of Bobcats leading the way in the top 20. The three-day tournament is being hosted by TXST at the Sandestin Resort & Club.
Senior
Sakke Siltala and junior
Jose Manuel Berenguel Casas, who transferred to TXST ahead of the 2025-26 season, went -1 across the opening 18 to sit tied for 20th in the 80-player field. Siltala collected six birdies in the first round, including a pair to open the day as well as two on the last four holes to close out the day. The total is the second highest in the field.
In his first action of the season,
Enzo Dakiche shot 71 for even par, while both
Ben Loveard and
Bryce Womack turned in rounds of 72 on the day.
Individually,
Brannan Cox leads the way for the hosts, going 2-under and tying for 12th after the first round. Cox leads the field in par 4s at -4.

As a team, TXST is ninth on the leaderboard, going 1-under 283 on Monday. South Alabama and ULM are tied after 18 holes at -7, while Middle Tennessee sits third at -6.
The Bobcats are paired with Florida A&M, High Point and New Orleans for round two starting at 9:00 am CT from holes No. 10-13. Individuals will tee off from Nos. 14-18.
