CHOUDRANT, La. -- Texas State men's golf closed the Argent Financial Classic with its best round of the tournament Tuesday, shooting a 10-under 278 to finish tied for fourth at Squire Creek Country Club.

The Bobcats entered the final round in fourth place and climbed into a tie for third at one point before ultimately finishing at 5-under par for the tournament. Texas State's 278 in the final round was the second-lowest team score of the day and marked a 16-stroke improvement from its second-round total of 294. The round included 12 birdies and an eagle on the front nine.

Dean Richards (69-72-69--210) led the Bobcats throughout the tournament, finishing tied for third individually at 6-under. Richards went under par in two of his three rounds to bring his season total to four rounds under across two tournaments. He also leads TXST with four rounds in the 60s.

Lucky Cruz also delivered a strong finish, shooting a tournament-best 68 for himself on Tuesday to move into a tie for 12th at 2-under. The final 18 included five of his tournament leading 17 birdies. Cruz (74-72-68--214) improved his score in each of his three rounds, making significant jumps on the individual leaderboard each day.

Rhett O'Rear finished tied for 27th at 2-over after posting a -3 in the final round, which included three birdies on an unblemished 18, to improve 17 places. José Arzú placed 31st at +3, while Ben McFadden finished 64th at +12. Individually, Corrington Case finished tied for 68th.

Troy won the event after climbing two spots on the final day and North Texas and Louisiana Tech rounded out the top there.

The Bobcats are back in action October 5-6 at the Testudo Cup hosted by Maryland at the PB Dye Golf Club.
