NEW ORLEANS – Texas State's Yvonne Chamness picked up the first Sun Belt Conference Golfer of the Week accolades of the 2025-26 season after leading the Bobcats at the season-opening Sam Golden Invitational Sept. 8-9.

The senior finished tied for second at the first tournament of the season, firing three rounds in the 60s en route to a 10-under, 206 performance. Chamness carded 12 birdies and an eagle at the event and finished -7 on par 4s, the second-best score of the tournament.

Chamness is coming off a 2024-25 campaign that saw her qualify for the NCAA Lubbock Regional after earning Sun Belt First-Team All-Conference and All-Tournament Team nods. She was also a WGCA All-American Scholar and CSC Academic All-District selection. On the course, she led the Bobcat lineup at eight tournaments with a team-best 73.14 stroke average. She won her first collegiate tournament at the Cardinal Challenge (March 31-April 1) and posted four top five finishes, five in the top 10 and nine in the top 20. Chamness led the team in birdies (99) and rounds at even par (393), while tying for a team-best 29 rounds of 32 counted toward the team score.

The Bobcats are back in action Oct. 20-22 for the Schooner Fall Classic hosted by Oklahoma in Norman.
