Bobcats Set for Second Meet of Season at UIW Invitational

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State cross country will compete in its second meet of the season Friday at the UIW Invitational in San Antonio.

The meet will be held at the Windcrest Golf Club and will feature a 4-mile race for the men's team and a 5K race for the women's team.

The men's 4-mile race will begin at 8 a.m., while the women's 5K race will begin at 8:40 a.m. Following both races, award t-shirts will be given to the top 10 finishers in each race.

The men's and women's cross country teams will look to build on the momentum from the UIW Twilight.

The women's team placed second at the UIW Twilight and had seven Bobcats finish inside the top 25 in the 4K race.

Junior Alexia Tiscareno Macias led the pack, finishing first, followed by fellow top-10 finishers sophomore Nyomi Garcia and senior Abigail Parra.

The men's team placed third and had six Bobcats finish inside the top 25 of the 6K race.

Junior Jack Deelman led the group, finishing 11th, with Elias Palmer and Anthony Parra both placing inside the top 20.

The men's 4-mile race will feature Nate Aguilar, Eyan Calico, Jack Deelman, David Herring, Nathan Morales, Elias Palmer, Anthony Parra, Anthony Sandoval and David Mendez-Serrato.

The women's 5K race will include Rebecca Davila, Nyomi Garcia, Kimberly Gloria, Haley Hall, Alexia Tiscareno Macias, Sofia Pena, Sanai Robinson and Destiney Rose.
