Agyemang Nets Brace in Victory Over SFA

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Junior forward Constance Agyemang recorded a brace Thursday night in helping lead Texas State (3-1-1) to a 5-1 victory over Stephen F. Austin (0-2-2) at the Bobcat Soccer Complex.

Matsuri Tsutsui also had a big performance on the pitch. The freshman netted her first collegiate goal and recorded two assists. Also tallying a goal was Katrin Agustsdottir, who now leads the team with four.

Finishing with an assist apiece were Sydney Bassa, Lilah Dupree ang Agustsdottir.

In goal, Brooklyn Escobar made four saves with three coming over the final 45 minutes of action.

The scoring got started midway through the eighth minute when Tsutsui sent a low pass to Agustsdottir. The Icelandic forward flicked the ball forward that Agyemang ran onto and slotted past the goalkeeper.

Just over two minutes later, Tsutsui sent in a corner kick from the left side. The Lumberjacks' goalkeeper leapt and saw the ball slip through her fingers. The ball then bounced off the back of a defender's head and into the back of the net for an own goal.

SFA would get on the board when Logan Heausler hit a left-footed shot from 20 yards out into the top right corner late in the 22nd minute.

Agustsdottir received a pass from Tsutsui and turned towards goal. The freshman unleashed a shot from 25 yards out that landed inside the left post to make it a 3-1 advantage nearly four minutes into the second half.

Late in the 63rd minute, Chloe Jones was tripped up just outside the top of the 18-yard box. Tsutsui took the free kick, sending the ball low past the wall of defender and just past the diving keeper to make it a three-goal lead.

Agyemang wrapped up the scoring in the 72nd minute. The Ghanan drove into the right side of the box and sent in a cross attempt. The ball ended up in the back of the net instead for her second goal of the evening.

Next up for the Bobcats is a meeting with 20th-ranked Oklahoma next Thursday. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. from the Bobcat Soccer Complex.
