COLLEGE STATION, Texas – For the first time in program history, the Texas State soccer team got a positive result against a Southeastern Conference team after playing to a 1-1 draw at Texas A&M on Wednesday night.

With the result, the Bobcats are now 2-0-1 on the season while the Aggies sport a 1-0-2 record.

Chloe Jones nearly put the Bobcats in front in the eighth minute. A left-footed attempt by the senior midfielder saw the goalkeeper make a leaping save as the ball was heading to the top corner of the net.

In the 28th minute,
Mady Soumare was tripped up just outside of the box to draw a foul.
Helen Alormenu sent the free kick into the upper portion of the net for the 1-0 advantage.

Texas A&M controlled the ball for most of the second half. The hosts would eventually get a breakthrough in the 81st minute when Trinity Buchanan knocked in a short cross to tie the contest.

Chloe Jones,
Victoria Meza and Alormenu with all of the attempts coming in the opening 45 minutes.

In goal,
Brooklyn Escobar made six saves on the evening with five coming in the second half.

Texas State returns home to host Arizona State on Sunday with kickoff scheduled for 11 a.m.
