BRYAN, Texas – Junior
Yvonne Chamness sits tied for first after the opening day of The "Mo" Morial hosted by Texas A&M at the Traditions Club in Bryan, Texas.
Chamness finished on both sides of par on day one to sit even for the tournament, tied atop the individual leaderboard shooting one-over across the first 18 and one-under for the second. She registered six birdies on the day, the second highest total of the event so far, and her second eagle of the season on the par-five hole no. 15 in the first round.
The junior is coming off a championship performance at the Cardinal Challenge and currently has three finishes in the top five and six in the top 25.
The Bobcats are fourth heading into the final round, just one stroke back from third place Northern Colorado at +43. Host and No. 20 Texas A&M (+23) leads the 16-team field, while Abilene Christian (+38) is second as the teams head into the final 18.
Freshman
Miren Ontanon carded a 73 in the opening frame before finishing her day +12 and tied for 23rd. Two strokes back is
Mattingly Palmer who enters the final round tied for 28th at +14. Rounding out the lineup are
Carla Bourdeaux (+20, T51) and
Ella Salama (+21, T57).
The final round of action concludes Tuesday with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. The Bobcats are paired with Oral Roberts and Baylor. Complete tee time and information will be available
