SAN MARCOS, Texas– Texas State softball dropped its final home series of the year to the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns after falling 4-3 on Sunday afternoon.
Despite having the bases loaded in the bottom of the 7
th and just needing one run, the Bobcats were unable to bat any runners in and dropped the game
.
How it Happened:Â
Emma Strood started in the circle for the Bobcats, tossing just 2.0 innings and allowing one run. She retired the side in the first inning.Â
The Ragin' Cajuns walked
Erin Peterson and
Aiyana Coleman in the bottom of the first, but a
Karmyn Bass strikeout ended the inning.
In the top of the 2
nd, Louisiana scored their first run of the game in the top of the 2
nd on an error by
Sydney Harvey.
Maddy Azua came in to pitch in the top of the third and gave up a double, single, and a home run for three runs to put the Bobcats down 4-0.
Analisa Soliz came in to pitch to end that inning.
Both sides were retired in order the next inning. The Bobcats continued to get hits through the late innings, but it took until the end of the game for the Bobcats to start their attempt at a comeback.
In the top of the 7
th,
Presley Glende made her final appearance in Bobcat Softball Stadium to close out the game. She'd get out of the inning without allowing any more runs despite allowing a baserunner.
From there, though, the Bobcats tried to stage a comeback. After
Emilee Baker singled to short stop, she'd advance to second on a Harvey single and score on
Erin Peterson's single. Peterson and Harvey would both score on a
Keely Williams double to make it a one run game.Â
After the Ragin' Cajuns intentionally walked
Aiyana Coleman,
Karmyn Bass hit a fly out to centerfield to end the game.
After the 4-3 loss, Texas State is now 31-18 on the season, and 13-8 in Sun Belt play.
