Bobcats Eighth Heading into Final Round of Sun Belt Championship

POINT CLEAR, Alabama – The Texas State women's golf team has completed 36 holes at the Sun Belt Championship and heads into the final round and 24-over and in eighth place.

The Bobcats are currently seven strokes out of the fourth-place position needed to secure a spot in Thursday's match play round. No. 33 Georgia Southern leads the field at 1-over, while Coastal Carolina (+8) is second and UlM (+9) third. South Alabama and Southern Miss are tied for the final match play spot at +17.

Yvonne Chamness (71-73--144) continues to lead the way for TXST after shooting 1-over 73 on the second 18. The junior is tied for eighth at even par and six strokes back from individual leader Momoka Ando from Southern Miss.

Freshman Ella Salama (77-74--151, +7) made the largest jump for the Bobcats on moving day, climbing 15 spots after a +2 round to sit in a tie for 29th, and classmate Miren Ontanon (77-75--152, +8) also lowered her score by going +3 to put her in a tie for 34th.

Mattingly Palmer (76-78--154, +10) rounded out the TXST scoring in the round at +6 and is tied for 44th, while Carla Bourdeaux (76-81--157, +13) is 52nd.

The final day of action has the Bobcats paired with Troy (+19) and Arkansas State (+26) teeing off from hole No. 1 between 8:45 a.m. CT and 9:21 a.m. Coverage of the final round will air at 10:30 a.m. on ESPN+.
