Softball Splits Day at UTSA

SAN ANTONIO, Texas– Texas State softball resumed its halted game with the Roadrunners and got a 7-0 win, and fell 6-0 in the next game.

How it Happened:
Texas State 7, UTSA 0
20 days after the game started, Texas State was able to get the win in its halted game with UTSA. The Bobcats entered the game with a 7-0 lead courtesy of an RBI groundout from Mayson Garrett in the 2nd, a 3 RBI single for Aiyana Coleman, a 2 RBI single for Trahan and a bases loaded walk for Garrett.

Emma Strood came in when the game resumed to pitch and struck out the side in the top of the 5th. The Bobcats were also retired in order in the bottom half of the inning.

Strood struck out two batters in the top of the 6th as well.

In the bottom of the 6th, Texas State got two runners on with a walk from Trahan and a single from Bass. They'd be stranded on Garrett's groundout.

Strood would strike out her 6th batter in the top of the 7th to end the game.

Texas State 0, UTSA 7
Strood continued her day in the circle with the first three innings against UTSA. She allowed just one hit and one walk in 2.1 innings while striking out one batter. Analisa Soliz came in in the third.

Through the first three innings, Texas State had gotten three base runners from a leadoff walk by Peterson, a single from Trahan and a walk by Makayla Hall. Neither side found a run through the first three innings.

In the 4th, Texas State got three base runners but was unable to score any runs after getting caught stealing at third and two at home.

UTSA opened the scoring in the 5th, when they got a runner on from a single. She'd score on a double to right center.

The Bobcats baserunning cost them again in the 6th when Bailee Slack was caught stealing. From there, Williams singled and Coleman was intentionally walked, but they'd be left stranded on a Bass fly out.

UTSA put up five runs in the 6th off an RBI fielder's choice, a wild pitch and a three run homer. The Bobcats were retired in order to end the game.

Texas State is now 28-13 on the season, and 11-4 in Sun Belt play.
