Yvonne Chamness sits tied for third place and just three strokes back from the individual leader. As a team, the Bobcats are tied for eighth with two rounds of stroke play left on the schedule.
No. 33 Georgia Southern leads the 13-team field at one-under, while South Alabama (+2) is second and Coastal Carolina (+3) third. TXST is 12-over 300 after the first day and is tied with Georgia State on the team leaderboard. The Bobcats are only four strokes out of the fourth-place spot needed to secure a place in Thursday's match play.
Chamness opened the day on hole No. 10 and carded an unblemished opening nine holes that included a birdie on No. 16. After bogies on one and two, the junior bounced back with a pair of birdies on Nos. four and nine to close out the day at 1-under 71 and in a five-way tie for third. Individual leader LoraLie Cowart from Georgia Southern is three strokes ahead at -4.

Mattingly Palmer and sophomore
Carla Bourdeaux sit tied for 34th in the middle of the pack each registering 4-over on their round one score card. Bourdeaux opened the event with four birdies, the third highest total for an individual.
Freshmen
Miren Ontanon and
Ella Salama both shot 5-over 77 across the first round and are tied for 44th on the individual leaderboard.
