Baseball Drops Finale at Campbell

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The series finale on Sunday saw Texas State fall 15-4 in eight innings to Campbell from Jim Perry Stadium.

The result drops the Bobcats to 8-7 on the season while the Camels are now 6-10.

David Rossow (1-2) earned the win after throwing five shutout innings of one-hit ball and striking out six. Taking the loss was Ausitn Eaton (1-2) as he went two innings but gave up six runs on five hits.

Colby Diaz tossed the most innings of all TXST hurlers with 2.1 innings out of the bullpen. The right-hander struck out two and surrendered a run on two hits.

Texas State scattered five hits with one apiece coming from Ryne Farber, Theo Kummer, Chase Mora, Samson Pugh and Eaton.

It would be Campbell scoring first with a run in the second and then broke the game over with eight in the third. Five of the runs in the big frame came on four straight hits on four consecutive pitches.

Pugh led off the sixth with a triple to left center. He would come home on the next pitch that was sent to center field for an RBI single off the bat of Kummer. With the bases loaded, Mora hit a fly ball to left that allowed Farber to tag and score to cut the deficit to seven runs.

The Camels extend their lead back to nine with a run in both the sixth and seventh innings.

In the eighth, free passes were issued to Kummer, Farber and Alan Shibley, respectively, to start off the frame. Mora hit a ball out to right field that was caught and a bad throw into the infield allowed Kummer to cross the plate.

A walk to pinch hitter Dawson Park reloaded the bases and Ethan Farris worked a free pass to bring in the second run of the inning.

Cambell would end the game early with four runs in the next half inning that was capped off by a two-run homer from Logan Schramm.

The Bobcats are back home on Tuesday for a game against TCU. The first pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. from Bobcat Ballpark.
