SAN ANTONIO – Tuesday saw Texas State drops its first midweek game of the season when it fell to Incarnate Word 7-6 at Sullivan Field.

With the result, the Bobcats are now 7-5 on the season while the Cardinals improve to 8-5.

Picking up the win on the rubber was Jonah Posey (1-0) after tossing 2.2 innings of relief with three strikeouts.
Bryson Dudley (3-1) took the loss after giving up the winning run while tossing 2.2 innings out of the bullpen.

Taylor Seay made his first career start in a Texas State uniform and struck out two in two frames.
Colby Diaz also had two punch out in two innings of work and
Matthew Tippie recorded three strikeouts in two frames of action. All three allowed two runs apiece.

Both
Ryne Farber and
Zachary Gingrich went 2-for-4 with a run scored. Farber stole a base and Gingrich added an RBI.
Cole Tabor drove in two runs and hit his first homer in a TXST uniform.

Leading off the game, Farber singled back up the middle and came around to score on
Ethan Farris' double down the third baseline. Gingrich doubled the lead with a bloop single to right field and Tabor followed with a two-run home run to right field to put the marron and gold up 4-0.

The Cardinals got a run back their first time at the plate on a solo homer off the bat of Daniel Calabrese. They would add another run in the second on a TXST fielding error.

In the fourth,
Austin Eaton led off with a single and moved into scoring position on a
Chase Mora sacrifice bunt.
Ian Collier would single to left center with two gone to plate Eaton and increase the lead to 5-2.

UIW quickly answered back in the bottom of the frame when Rob Liddington smacked the first pitch of his frame over the left field wall just inside the foul pole. The hosts would tack on another run in the frame to get within a run.

In the sixth, the Cardinals scored twice to take their first lead of the game at 6-5.

Cameron Thompson led off the eighth with a solo home run to tie the game. It was his first homer of the season.

The game ended when Jake Weaver hit a homer with two outs in the bottom of the ninth.

Next up for the Bobcats is a trip to North Carolina to take on Campbell for a three-game series beginning on Friday at 5 p.m. CT.
