SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State softball tallied a win and a loss on its record with a 3-0 win over Lipscomb and a 7-3 loss to Bradley on Saturday.
Karmyn Bass hit effectively in both games, with three hits, a run and two RBI. That, paired with a six-inning, seven strikeout outing for Maddy Azua against Lipscomb highlighted the Bobcats day at the ballpark.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Texas State 3, Lipscomb 0:
Maddy Azua retired three straight batters to get the first inning started for the Bobcats. From there, the Bobcats first Lipscomb into a pair of errors to get two runs.
Kate Bubela scored after getting on base from a hit, while
Sydney Harvey scored after reaching on an error. That put the Bobcats up 2-0 after the first inning.
Texas State added its third run in the third inning off of Bass' triple. She scored Williams who was hit by a pitch to get on base.
From there, Azua tallied her seven strikeouts before head coach
Ricci Woodard opted to bring in senior pitcher
Presley Glende to close out the game. Glende got one strike out and two fly outs to end the game.Â
Texas State won 3-0 in game one.
Bradley 7, Texas State 3:
Glende started game two for the Bobcats, retiring three batters to start the game. Bass got on base in the bottom half of the inning, but was unable to score.
Bradley scored their first run in the second inning off a sacrifice fly after Glende allowed a single and a double earlier in the inning.
In the top of the third, Woodard opted to bring in
Emma Strood, who gave up a pair of singles that allowed Lipscomb to score two runs. Strood gave up one more run in the top of the fourth before Woodard brought in
Abigail Jennings.
Jennings made her debut as a Bobcat in this game, pitching one inning and allowing a walk and a pop up.Â
Analisa Soliz was brought in in the top of the 5
th.
It took Texas State until the 6
th inning to find a run, which came off a
Keely Williams single, who scored Bass who walked previously in the inning. A bases loaded walk of
Mayson Garrett scored
Keely Williams later in the inning.
Bradley added three more runs in the top of the 7
th off an RBI single and a two RBI single after the Bobcats allowed four hits in the inning.
Ciara Trahan singled down the line for an RBI to make things 7-3 in the bottom of the 7
th.

Texas State softball will stay home for the second weekend of the season as they host the Bobcat Tournament Feb. 13-16.
