Softball Falls to #5 Texas A&M

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas State softball headed on the road for the first time in the 2025 season to College Station where the team would suffer a 9-1 run rule loss to #5 Texas A&M.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Aiyana Coleman got the first hit of the night for the Bobcats as the third batter up, singling to left field in as her first at-bat in her return to her former school. The College Station native went 1-2 on the night in the game. She'd advance to second on a Karmyn Bass single, but the Bobcats were unable to put up any runs after that.

Emma Strood started in the circle for the Bobcats, forcing the Aggies into two fly outs and a pop up in the first inning. The Aggies only allowed one batter to reach base in the first inning off a fielding error by Emily Fish.

The Bobcats were able to get a runner on in the second inning, but were again unable to bat any runs in. Strood struck out a batter swinging in the second but then hit a batter after that. She'd escape the inning without giving up any runs, though, after a fly out and a ground out for the last two outs.

The Bobcats were retired in order in the third, which is when Texas A&M caught fire offensively. After back to back singles to start the inning, Strood gave up a 2 RBI double to let the Aggies on the board. Head coach Ricci Woodard opted to bring in Maddy Azua at that point. From there, Azua allowed two more runners to score on two more RBI singles, making the score 4-0 at the end of the third.

Texas State pulled one run back in the fourth inning, though, off an RBI triple from Sydney Harvey. She scored Trahan who reached on a single. That would be the Bobcats lone run of the night, though.

Texas A&M added a fifth run in the 4th on an RBI single from Koko Wooley.

Texas State was able to get three runners on in the 5th, but when the Aggies turned a double play they let two runners on base as the Aggies came back to bat.

Glende had come in to pitch in the 4th, giving up a solo home run off the first batter in the 5th. From there, she'd get two more runners on base from singles before Analisa Soliz would come in to close the game. From there, the Aggies scored one a throwing error and an RBI single to make it an eight-run game and get into run rule territory.

Texas State was run ruled for the first time this season, and is now 10-4 on the year.
