Bobcats Close Out Action at Chevron Collegiate

HUMBLE, Texas – The Texas State women's golf team closed out action at the Chevron Collegiate Tuesday afternoon, a tournament that featured five teams in the top 25 of the Scoreboard rankings and seven in the top 50. The Bobcats finished 14th in the 16-team field.

For the fourth time this season, and second consecutive tournament, Yvonne Chamness (72-73-70—215) led TXST, finishing 1-under and tied for 31st place following a 2-under 70 performance in the third round. Her under-par showing for the tournament makes it the fourth straight tournament doing so, a streak that started with a 10-under finish at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate (Oct. 4-6).

No. 16 TCU won the event (-34), while No. 17 Texas A&M (-25) fell one spot on the final day to finish second and No. 1 Arkansas (-24) climbed one spot to finish third. As a team, TXST finished +20.

Ella Salama (71-73-77—221) was the second highest finisher in the Bobcat lineup tying for 57th after carding a 77 on the final 18, good for a three-round +5. Carla Bourdeaux (72-77-77—226) and Miren Ontanon (78-74-74—226) tied for 74th at +10, while Mattingly Palmer (76-77-75—228) rounded out the lineup at +12 and tied for 81st. Individually, Hallie Adare finished 89th.

The Bobcats are back in action March 10-12 for the Tulane Classic hosted at the English Turn Golf & Country Club in New Orleans.
