SAN MARCOS, Texas – For the second straight year, Texas State (8-3-7) finds itself in the semifinals of the Sun Belt Conference Championship. The No. 4 seed Bobcats will take on No. 1 South Alabama (10-3-4) Wednesday night at 7 p.m. from the Foley Sports Complex.

The Bobcats went to penalty kicks late Monday night to advance over James Madison after the teams played to a 1-1 draw after 110 minutes of action.
Maude Rouanet had a spectacular night between the posts as she made eight saves in her first start of the season. Her save total is tied for the most in a Sun Belt Tournament match by a TXST goalkeeper.

Mady Soumare has scored a team-high six goals while adding three assists. She had been efficient in her shot taking with 22 of her 28 attempts being on frame (.786). The Ghanan duo of
Constance Agyemang and
Helen Alormenu have scored five goals apiece.
Victoria Meza has recorded four goals and three assists this season after netting the lone goal for the Bobcats in regulation against the Dukes.

Pacing the team with seven assists is
Matsuri Tsutsui, who has also tacked on two goals. Her assist total is the most by a Bobcat since 2013 and is the second most ever by a freshman in team history. Second on the team with five assists is the duo of
Chloe Jones and Alormenu while
Alexis Montgomery has been credited with four.

Brooklyn Escobar has started 17 matches in goal. The freshman sports a 1.15 GAA, 50 saves, a .746 save percentage and four shutouts. Rouanet has appeared in six matches and made her first start of the season on Monday. The graduate transfer has a 1.77 GAA with 18 saves and a .750 save percentage for the season.

About South Alabama
The Jaguars are undefeated in their last seven matches after playing to a scoreless draw against a 10-person Louisiana squad in Monday's quarterfinal match. They fell behind 3-1 in penalty kicks but came back to claim the shootout 4-3 to reach the semifinals. When playing away from Mobile, South Alabama is 3-2-2 this year with a 3-1-2 mark against Sun Belt opponents.

Zamiyah Hill leads the team with six goals, 13 points, 49 shots and 18 shots on goal. Right behind her in the goal category is Andrea Iljkic with five. Ava Matherne has contributed four goals and four assists. Leading the team with six assists is Sofia Ferrante.

Between the posts, Sierra Giorgio has started 15 matches. The conference's Goalkeeper of the Year sports a 0.56 GAA with 52 saves, a .867 save percentage and eight shutouts.

Series History
South Alabama leads the all-time series 10-1-4 after the team's played to a scoreless draw in Mobil on Oct. 24. It was the second straight meeting that the matchup between the Bobcats and Jaguars ended in a scoreless match after also doing so in 2023.

Wednesday will be the third time that the teams have faced off in the Sun Belt Championship. Last time was in the quarterfinals of the 2023 tournament with South Alabama winning 2-1. The first matchup was on Nov. 2, 2018 in the semifinals. It was 1-1 after 110 minutes of action and Texas State would go on to advance 4-2 on penalty kicks.
