SAN MARCOS, Texas — Texas State volleyball will close out the regular season on Nov. 13 and 14 at James Madison. Both games will have first serve at 5 pm (CT) with fans able to tune in on ESPN+.

SCOUTING JAMES MADISON

• James Madison enters the weekend with a 20-6 record on the season, and a 13-1 record in Sun Belt action. 
• Last year when these two teams met in Strahan Arena, Texas State won both matches, one 3-1 and one 3-0. Texas State also won 3-0 when the team's met at the Sun Belt Tournament.
• The Dukes are led by 16th year head coach Lauren Steinbrecher who has a 293-151 record in her time at James Madison. She is the coach in the Sun Belt with the highest winning percentage as well, with a 40-6 record since the Dukes joined the Sun Belt.
• Leading the Dukes offensively is Kennedy Louisell who averages 5.02 kills per set with 5.54 points per set. She also has 28 service aces this year.
• The Dukes are set by Grace Wenrich and Rebecca Watkins who average 5.79 and 5.21 assists per set, respectively.
• Defensively, Julia McNeley leads with 3.88 digs per set while Ayen Nhial leads the blocking with 1.27 per set.

 
NOTES TO KNOW:

• Where We Stand: Texas State entered conference play with a 5-6 record after having a challenging preseason slate. Through the first 11 matches, Texas State faced two top 25 opponents in #9 Arizona State and #4 Stanford, and one match against UCLA, who was receiving votes in the AVCA poll. Texas State faced eight schools who made postseason appearances last season. So far in conference play, Texas State is 9-5 with two wins vs Coastal Carolina, ULM and Southern Miss, split series against South Alabama, Troy and Louisiana and two losses to Arkansas State.
• Back the Pac: Texas State will be leaving the Sun Belt Conference after this athletic year having accepted a bid to join the Pac-12, effective July 1, 2026. Texas State will join Utah State, Boise State, Fresno State, Colorado State, San Diego State, Washington State, Oregon State and Gonzaga.
• Returners: The Bobcats are returning four starters from the 2024 season, including, Samantha Wunsch, Jade Defraeye, Maggie Walsh, Bailey Hanner.
  • Also returning for the Bobcats is Alyssa Clark, Brooke Bentke, Nina Moorer, Caelyn Emmerling, Anna Blaine and Ally Adair
• Newcomers: The Bobcats are welcoming four freshmen and two transfers to the team this season.
  • Incoming freshmen includes outsides Britton Finley, Isabella Andrews and Adison Ozuna, and middle blocker Ashley Euston who spent her spring 2025 season at Mizzou.
  • Pacific transfer, Dylan Gilkey, joins the squad as a setter.
  • Cal State Fullerton transfer, Ameena Campbell, joins the squad as an outside.
• Meet the Staff: Head Coach Sean Huiet is in his sixth year in charge and has a 131-58 record in his tenure. Huiet returns Keith Anderson (6^th year), Charli Fouts (5^th year) and Drew Carter (2^nd year) to his staff this season. 
  • Additionally, Huiet has brought on graduate assistant coach Callahan Hefner to the staff. He joins the program after previously being a manager at Grand Canyon.
