SAN MARCOS, Texas— Texas State women's basketball will finish out its home stand this week with two games versus Arkansas State and South Alabama.
The Jan. 8 game versus Arkansas State will tip off at 7 pm inside Strahan Arena. The Jan. 11 game versus South Alabama will tip off at 2 pm. Both games can be streamed on ESPN+ or fans can buy tickets at txst.com/tickets.
SERIES HISTORY
• With the Red Wolves:
- Texas State has a 10-11 record all-time against Arkansas State
- Texas State lost both meetings with the Red Wolves in the 2023-24 season, once by a 73-48 scoreline and once by a 57-53 scoreline.
- Prior to those two losses, Texas State was on a four-game win streak.
• With the Jaguars:
- Texas State has a 13-5 record against South Alabama.
- Last season the two teams split meetings, with South Alabama winning in Strahan Arena by a 65-64 scoreline and the Bobcats winning in Mobile by a 63-44 scoreline.
- In the 2022-23 season, South Alabama won both meetings.

- The Freshmen: Texas State has four freshman, Heather Baymon, Saniya Burks, Takeira Ramey, and Melinda Winston.
- Three of the four freshmen played high school basketball in the state of Texas (Burks, Baymon, Winston) while Ramey is the lone freshman coming from out of state.
- All four freshman have seen minutes and scored this season. Burks has become a mainstay in the Bobcats starting five, with six starts through the first ten games of the season.
- The Transfers: Texas State has added six transfers, including five Division I transfers.
- The Returners: Antoine returns five members from 2023-2024 to this year's team.
OFF THE BENCH AND FROM THE PAINT
- Texas State is currently ranked No. 20 in the nation for its average of 29.2 bench points a night. The Bobcats have outscored their opponent's bench in all but three of their games so far.
- All 15 Bobcats have played in a game and scored this season.
- The Bobcats are prolific in the paint this season. Texas State has scored 422 of its 837 points in the paint this season. Texas State is outscoring opponents 422-382 in the paint.
AROUND THE SUN BELT
- Texas State was picked to finish 10th in the Sun Belt Conference preseason poll. Last season the Bobcats finished 4-14 in conference which that saw them finish 13th in the regular season standings.
- After week one of conference play, the Bobcats are 1-2 and sit in 8th place in the Sun Belt.
ABOUT THE RED WOLVES
- Arkansas State finished the 2023-24 season with a 13-17 record, going 6-12 in Sun Belt play.
- They are currently 6-7 this season and 2-1 in conference play. The Red Wolves are coming off a 76-73 win over Georgia Southern. They also beat Marshall 66-56 last week.
- The Panthers are led by 4th year head coach Destinee Rogers who carries a 40-53 record at Arkansas State.
- The Red Wolves leading scorer is Kyanna Morgan who has 125 points so far this season. Wynter Rogers leads the boards for the Red Wolves with 69.
ABOUT THE JAGUARS
- South Alabama finished the 2023-24 season with a 9-23 record, going 2-16 in Sun Belt play.
