SAN MARCOS, Texas – The 2024 regular season officially kicks off tomorrow for the Texas State soccer team when it travels to Houston to take on Rice from Holloway Field at 7 p.m.

About Texas State
The Bobcats are coming off a 4-2 exhibition victory at Abilene Christian last Friday.
Alexis Neal netted a brace including the eventual match-winner. Also finding the back of the net for TXST was
Lily Erb and
Mya Ulloa. Finishing with two assists was Mississippi State transfer
Kaylie Smith. The trio of
Katelyn Chrisman,
Caitlyn Draper and Nicolle Francis all saw time in goal.
Texas State was picked to finish eighth in the 14-team Sun Belt preseason coaches poll. Coming in just ahead of the Bobcats was App State and South Alabama, both of which tied for sixth. Sitting atop the poll was Old Dominion, James Madison and ULM, respectively.
About Rice
Last season saw the Owls finish 3-13-2 and go 1-7-1 in the American Athletic Conference. All three of the wins came on the road versus Northwestern State, Temple and Texas Southern. At home, Rice posted a 0-7-1 record with the draw being a 1-1 contest against South Florida. The Owls will play eight of their first nine matches this season at home.
Kallie McKinney is the top returning scorer after totaling three goals while adding two assists. Scoring twice was Mia Brumlow, Natalie Gorji (four assists) and Sarah Piper (two assists).
The Owls will be breaking in a new goalkeeper this season. The trio on the roster is Rhode Island transfer Faith Hutchins, Kirsten Ruf and Megan Sweeney.
