Jordan McCloud at the 2024 Sun Belt Conference Football Media Days in New Orleans on July 24, the conference office announced on Wednesday.
Kinne, in his second year leading the Bobcats, along with 2023 All-Conference selection Mahdi and reigning Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year, McCloud, will be among the other five schools and their representatives from the Sun Belt West Division taking part in the second day of the two-day event.
A junior from Murphy, Texas, Mahdi returns to the Bobcats after a standout sophomore season. In 2023 he was named First Team All American (CBS/247Sports), Second Team All-American (FWAA, The Athletics, ESPN, Phil Steele), Third Team All-American (Athlon Sports) and All-Sun Belt First Team (All-purpose player) and Second Team (Return Specialist). He was also named Dave Campbell's Texas Football All-Texas Second Team.
Mahdi has received 2024 preseason All-Conference honors from Athlon Sports and Phil Steele (first team RB, third team KR).
McCloud, the reigning Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year, committed to Texas State in February 2024 after an 11-2 season as the starting quarterback for James Madison. The dual-threat quarterback has made 31 starts in 36 career games from 2019-23 and in that time has thrown for nearly 7,000 yards on 573-of-903 passing in his career. McCloud, with 58 touchdowns and 25 interceptions, also has 708 career rushing yards on 281 carries with 13 touchdowns in his career.
McCloud has earned preseason All-American (second team, special teams) and preseason All-Sun Belt honors from Phil Steele (first team) and Athlon Sports entering the 2024 campaign.
The Sun Belt Football Media Days will be held at the New Orleans Marriott Warehouse Arts District in downtown New Orleans, La., and will be broadcast nationwide on ESPN+.
Sun Belt East Division programs—App State, Coastal Carolina, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, James Madison, Marshall and Old Dominion—will appear on Tuesday, July 23.
